Symbol Line - Overview

Symbol Line places symbols with two defined points along a drawn path, creating a linked chain of repeated symbols.

It is especially useful for temporary event fencing, crowd barriers, posts, garden layouts, and any symbol that needs to follow a line accurately.

Why not use Duplicate Along Path? That command places one point of the symbol on the path. Symbol Line places two user-defined points of the symbol on the path, creating a connected run of symbols such as temporary event fences.

Symbol Line can place three symbol definitions along the line:

Symbol 1 is the main symbol placed along the line.
Symbol 2 can alternate with Symbol 1 based on count or interval.
Symbol 3 can be placed at Symbol 1 or Symbol 2 insertion points, based on count or interval, and can be spread evenly between Symbol 2 instances.

Symbols in a Symbol Line can flip orientation.

Symbol distances can come from manual distance and angle values in the Object Info palette, or from loci inside the symbol definition with the symbol_line_dist record attached.

The tool works with any symbol definition and with either metric or imperial units.
